The Hogtown Howler

Well the Weal World Travel headquarters has been temporarily moved from Calgary to Toronto so the Cowtown Crier updates have now become the Hogtown Howler. (What's with farm animals and Canadian cities?)

Stay tuned as I bring you snippets of my adventures in the T-dot.

May Day

It's the first of the month and it's official-the website has been updated with travel information and pictures on Ethiopia. The newsletter has also been sent out electronically. If you haven't received a copy and would like to please contact us.

Ships in Harbour...

A ship in harbour is safe-but that is not what ships are built for.
John A. Shed

What have I done? In a few short weeks I packed up my cherished belongings and headed out on a long drive across Canada. I made it all the way to my destination but my car didn't.

After a traumatic accident just east of Steinbach Manitoba, my car was a total write-off and I had lost precious Belgian couverture in the process. The maiden voyage turned into a Titanic-like experience.

Now here I am in Toronto having left behind all that was familiar and easy.

April Fools'! Not really.

Well a new month has come and another trip under my belt. I have taken advantage of tcchnology and set up my mobile office in terminal 3 at London Heathrow airport.
My most recent trip was to a land formerly known as Abysinnia. There's a prize for guessing which country this is. Hint: it's where cultivation of coffee began.

Stay tuned for extensive updates on my experiences in this country...

NEW YEAR'S WISHES!

"Both the Hopis and Mayans recognize that we are approaching the end of a World Age...
In both cases, however, the Hopi and Mayan elders do not prophesy that everything will come to an end. Rather, this is a time of transition from one World Age into another. The message they give concerns our making a choice of how we enter the future ahead. Our moving through with either resistance or acceptance will determine whether the transition will happen with cataclysmic changes or gradual peace and tranquility.

VISIONS OF COCOA PODS

'Tis the season to eat, drink and travel.

However, there will be no overseas trip for me this year. (That working-for-a-living thing got in the way, not to mention the finances.)

So I decided to experiment with a conventional Christmas this year. Snow is already on the ground and my 2 Charlie Brown-style Christmas trees are set up. The big one is adorned with various globe and multicultural ornaments as well as a few bejewelled camels and a Timbit snowman. Some of these ornaments I bought fromTen Thousand Villages

The T-dot

Halifax is where it all began-I was conceived. Toronto is where it all started-I was born.

I was recently back in Toronto-hot, humid Toronto with its throngs of people and big city smells. As I walked the streets that I have walked so many times before I thought to myself "what do people really know about this city?"

What is quintessentially Toronto that time and itinerary don't reveal to tourists. Click here to find out.
